中美青年齐聚重庆史迪威博物馆: “谢谢您,史迪威!”

6月9日上午,一场跨越太平洋的文化交流活动在重庆史迪威博物馆拉开帷幕。20多名来华参加中美“未来之桥”青年交流计划旗舰活动“青年智造未来”主题交流营的美国青年与来自西南大学、西南政法大学、重庆南开中学、重庆育才中学、重庆外国语学校、重庆巴蜀常春藤学校的中方学生共赴一场回顾历史、面向未来的友谊之旅。

On the morning of June 9th, a cultural exchange event spanning the Pacific Ocean kicked off at Chongqing Stilwell Museum. Over 20 young Americans participating inthe “Future Bridge” Sino-U.S. Youth Exchange Program Flagship Initiative “Youth Shaping the Future with Technology” Theme Exchange Camp Session, along with students from Southwest University, Southwest University of Political Science and Law, Chongqing Nankai Middle School, Chongqing Yucai Middle School, Chongqing Foreign Language School, and Chongqing BI Academy, embarked on a journey of friendship looking back on history and looking towards the future.

活动期间,在博物馆展馆会议室举行了主题为“史迪威的中国故事:记忆·传承·延续”的座谈会,由来自西南政法大学的朱颖教授和来自美国北亚利桑那大学的吴迪教授共同主持。
During the event, a symposium was held in the museum’s conference room, themed “Stilwell's Chinese Story: Memory, Inheritance, Continuation”. The symposium was co-chaired by Professor Zhu Ying from Southwest University of Political Science and Law and Professor Di Wu from Northern Arizona University.

中美青年分为6个小组,在热烈友好的气氛中,围绕史迪威将军的生平、中美战时合作、中美青年交流、中美校园文化、来渝所见所闻等话题开展了交流讨论。6名中美青年代表各自小组分别发言,分享了他们参访重庆史迪威博物馆的深刻感受,对史迪威将军、陈纳德将军和飞虎队不远万里奔赴中国战场,与中国人民一起经受血与火的考验表示由衷的感佩。一名来自美国北亚利桑那大学的学生表示,此次重庆之行,她受到了中方学生的热心帮助,感受到了中国人民的热情友好,为表达感激之情,她愿意为未来赴美留学的中国学生提供力所能及的帮助。
Divided into six groups, young Chinese and Americans exchanged views in a warm and friendly atmosphere on topics such as the life of General Stilwell, China-U.S. wartime cooperation, youth exchange between China and the United States, campus culture in both countries, and their impressions of Chongqing. Representatives from each group shared their profound experiences visiting Chongqing Stilwell Museum, expressing sincere admiration for General Stilwell, General Chennault and the Flying Tigers’ bravery in fighting alongside the Chinese people during wartime. A student from Northern Arizona University expressed gratitude for the warm assistance from Chinese students during hervisit to Chongqing, promising to offer help to Chinese students studying in the United States in the future.
在自由发言环节,多名来自中美两国的青年畅谈了对史迪威将军协助中国政府与人民抗击日本侵略这段历史的感悟,并表达了对中美关系的美好愿景。
During the free discussion session, several young Chinese and Americans shared their reflections on General Stilwell’s assistance to the Chinese government and people in resisting Japanese aggression, expressing their hopes for a brighter future for China-U.S. relations.

朱颖教授最后对座谈会作了总结,他巧妙地将史迪威将军姓名中的“well”寓意对中美关系的美好寄望,祝愿中美关系行稳致远。
Professor Zhu Ying concluded the symposium by neatly incorporating the word “well” from General Stilwell’s name to symbolize the positive aspirations for China-U.S. relations, wishing for stable and far-reaching development in the relationship.
座谈会前,中美青年共同参观了博物馆。在讲解员带领下,大家探访了史迪威将军旧居和展馆,从旧居复原展到地下防空洞,从“史迪威将军生平图片展”到“二战时期美军援华空军图片实物展”及“‘梅里尔突击队’图片实物展”,他们倾听史迪威将军协助中国政府与人民抗击日本侵略者的历史,回顾抗战时期中美并肩作战结下的深厚友谊。随后还在弗里曼电影厅观看了《史迪威与中缅印战区》纪录片。
Before the symposium, the youth delegation took a guided tour around the museum. They explored General Stilwell’s former residence and exhibition hall, visiting the restoration exhibit, the underground air-raid shelter, the “Photo Exhibition of General Stilwell’s Life”, as well as photo and physical exhibitions on the U.S. Air Support to China during World War II and the Merrill's Marauders, learning about the history of General Stilwell’s assistance to the Chinese government and people in resisting Japanese aggression and the deep friendship forged between China and the United States during wartime. They also watched the documentary Stilwell and the CBI in the Freeman Hall.

在博物馆的交流活动就要结束时,中美青年齐聚在史迪威将军铜像前,他们面带笑容,齐声高呼:“Thank you, Stilwell!”(谢谢您,史迪威!)这一刻,不仅是对这段历史的致敬,更是对未来的美好期许。
As the exchange activities came to an end, the youth delegation took a group photo in front of General Stilwell’s bronze statue. With smiles on their faces, they collectively shouted, “Thank you, Stilwell!” This moment was not only a tribute to history, but also a hopeful expectation for the future.

2023年11月15日,中国国家主席习近平和美国总统拜登在旧金山成功会晤,形成了面向未来的“旧金山愿景”。同日,习近平主席在美国友好团体联合欢迎宴会上发表演讲并提出,“中方未来5年愿邀请5万名美国青少年来华交流学习”。“未来之桥”中美青年交流计划就是响应中美两国领导人的共识和倡议,鼓励扩大两国教育、学生、青年、文化、体育和工商界交流,推动中美关系健康、稳定、可持续发展。
On November 15th, 2023, Chinese President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Biden successfully met in San Francisco, forming the forward-looking “San Francisco Vision”. On the same day, President Xi Jinping delivered a speech at a joint welcome banquet hosted by American friendly organizations, proposing that “China is ready to invite 50,000 young Americans to China on exchange and study programs in the next five years”. The“Future Bridge” Sino-U.S. Youth Exchange Program Flagship Initiative“Youth Shaping the Future with Technology” Theme Exchange Camp Session is a response to the consensus and initiatives of leaders of China and the United States, encouraging the expansion of educational, student, youth, cultural, sports, and business exchanges between the two countries to promote the healthy, stable, and sustainable development of China-U.S. relations.
