"A really good museum!" "Very enlightening!" "Extremely moving!"

5月24日，来渝出席2024重庆国际友好城市合作大会的美国硅谷市长代表团一行来到重庆史迪威博物馆参观。他们是美中硅谷协会会长王暘、美中硅谷协会顾问段一鸣、加州安条克市市长拉马尔·索普、加州东帕罗奥图市市长安东尼奥·洛佩斯、加州摩根山市副市长玛丽莲·里布斯、加州奥克利市市长阿尼莎·威廉姆斯、加州圣卡洛斯市市长约翰·杜根、加州萨拉托加市市长赵嬿。

On May 24th, a delegation of mayors from Silicon Valley, U.S., attending the 2024 Chongqing International Friendly Cities Cooperation Conference, visited Chongqing Stilwell Museum. Members of the delegation included Victor Wang, President of China Silicon Valley; Jack Duan, advisor to China Silicon Valley; Lamar Thorpe, Mayor of Antioch, California; Antonio Lopez, Mayor of East Palo Alto, California; Marilyn Librers, Vice Mayor of Morgan Hill, California; Anissa Williams, Mayor of Oakland, California; John Dugan, Mayor of San Carlos, California; and Zhao Yan, Mayor of Saratoga, California.

此前，代表团不断压缩其他行程，只为了能尽可能在博物馆停留更多的时间。加州萨拉托加市市长赵嬿女士特别提到，在来重庆之前，中国驻旧金山总领事张建敏告诉她，“你到重庆，一定要去重庆史迪威博物馆，那是一个很好的博物馆！”

Prior to their visit, the delegation kept cutting back on their other activities to spend more time at the museum. Zhao Yan, Mayor of Saratoga, specifically mentioned that before coming to Chongqing, Zhang Jianmin, Chinese Consul General in San Francisco advised her, "When you're in Chongqing, make sure to visit Chongqing Stilwell Museum. It's a really good museum!"

代表团在博物馆工作人员的讲解中，参观了史迪威将军旧居、“伟大的朋友——史迪威将军生平图片展”“历史的见证：第二次世界大战时期美国援华空军图片实物展”“‘梅里尔抢夺者’突击队图片实物展”，观看了《史迪威与中缅印战区》和《传承五代的情谊》纪录片。

During a guided tour, the delegation visited General Stilwell's former residence, "Great Friend - Photo Exhibition of General Stilwell's Life", as well as photo and physical exhibitions "Historical Witness: U.S. Air Support to China During World War II" and "Merrill's Marauders". They also watched documentaries Stilwell and the CBI and Friendship Transcending Five Generations.

美中硅谷协会顾问段一鸣先生观看展览时了解到中国军民成功营救参与杜立特空袭的64名机组人员后遭到日军疯狂扫荡和报复，致使25万名中国军民罹难的历史，他热泪盈眶，心情久久不能平复。他告诉博物馆工作人员，他的爷爷奶奶在抗战爆发后从武汉来到重庆，住在沙坪坝，在重庆大学任教，他们经历了艰难的战争年代。当了解到中国专门建立了史迪威博物馆并与史迪威家族传承五代的情谊后，他说，中国人是最重视情义的。铭记共同抗战岁月，传承中美人民友谊，重庆史迪威博物馆做了最好的传承，“今天受教匪浅！”

Jack Duan, advisor to China Silicon Valley, was deeply moved when he learned about the history of the 64 crew members participating in the Doolittle Raid rescued by Chinese soldiers and civilian and the following rampage and retaliation by the Japanese, resulting in the deaths of 250,000 Chinese soldiers and civilians. He was brought to tears and couldn't shake off his emotions for a long time. He told museum staff that his grandparents had moved from Wuhan to Chongqing during the war and lived in Shapingba, teaching at Chongqing University. They experienced the hardships of the wartime. Learning that China had specifically established the Chongqing Stilwell Museum and maintained a friendship with the Stilwell family for five generations, he said that the Chinese people value friendship the most. Chongqing Stilwell Museum has truly lived up to its mission to remember the shared struggle for peace and carry on China-U.S. people-to-people friendship. "It's truly an enlightening experience!"

美国加州摩根山市的副市长玛丽莲·里布斯女士来过中国38次了，但到重庆是第一次。她观看完《史迪威与中缅印战区》和《传承五代的情谊》纪录片后，不断赞叹“非常感人！”

Marilyn Librers, Vice Mayor of Morgan Hill, California, had been to China 38 times, but it was her first visit to Chongqing. After watching the documentaries Stilwell and the CBI and Friendship Transcending Five Generations, she continuously exclaimed, "Extremely moving!"
