Story|

During World War II, Japanese army officers ranked sergeant and above were issued officer's swords. These swords were distinguished by the color of their sword knots, which indicated their rank, ranging from sergeant, lieutenant, captain, to general. In contrast, naval officer's swords had uniformly brown knots. These swords were primarily ceremonial and lacked practical combat utility, with a more ornate exterior compared to their army counterparts.

Japanese army officer's swords during World War II were either personally crafted to showcase familial status, or mass-produced and issued to soldiers. These swords held deep symbolic and spiritual significance for the Japanese people, making the capture of a Japanese officer's sword a badge of honor among Allied soldiers on the battlefield. As the war ended, some of these swords became prized possessions for Allied veterans, proudly displayed in their homes as tokens of their wartime achievements against Japan.
