10月15日，为加强中美人文交流，重温中美两国人民在共同抗击日本法西斯斗争中结下的深厚情谊，史迪威将军后代、美军观察组成员后代组成的访问团在重庆史迪威博物馆开启中国行。访问团成员包括史迪威将军的外曾孙大卫·邦斯、安德鲁·邦斯，美军观察组成员多姆克上尉的女儿葆拉·斯特林和外孙女莎拉·斯特林。
On October 15, to strengthen cultural exchanges between China and the U.S. and to revisit the deep bond forged between the two peoples during their joint fight against Japanese fascism,  the descendants of General Stilwell and of the U.S. Army Observer Group embarked on a trip to China. Their first stop was Chongqing Stilwell Museum. The group included General Stilwell’s great-grandsons David Bunce and Andrew Bunce, as well as Paula Sterling, daughter of Captain Domke from the U.S. Army Observer Group, and Sarah Sterling, his granddaughter.

走进博物馆深红的大门，映入眼帘的是一幅巨型的黑白图片，葆拉·斯特林立刻认出了照片上的父亲，她激动得上前轻抚父亲的面庞。这是80年前身着粗布中山装的美军观察组成员在延安的合影。1944年，在同盟国中国战区统帅部参谋长、美军中缅印战区总司令史迪威推动下，美国总统罗斯福同意向延安派遣军事观察组。

Walking through the museum’s red doors, Paula Sterling was immediately struck by a giant black-and-white photograph. She quickly recognized her father and, overcome with emotion, gently touched his face. The photo, taken 80 years ago, shows members of the U.S. Army Observer Group in Yan’an dressed in simple Chinese tunic suits. In 1944, under the direction of General Stilwell, Chief of Staff of the Allied China Theater Command and Commander-in-chief of U.S. forces in the China-Burma-India Theater, the U.S. President Roosevelt agreed to send an observer group to Yan,an.

史迪威将军铜像鲜花环绕，史迪威将军后代、美军观察组成员后代分别上前整理花篮缎带，红色缎带上的“追寻先辈足迹 赓续中美友好”字样格外醒目。

A bronze statue of General Stilwell stood surrounded by flowers, as descendants of General Stilwell and of the U.S. Army Observer Group took turns to adjust the ribbons on the flower baskets, where the words “Trace the Steps of Ancestors, Renew China-U.S. Friendship” were prominently displayed.

访问团接下来参观史迪威将军旧居、史迪威将军生平图片展，观看《心相近 传承五代的情谊》专题短片，重温那些熟悉的影像、使用过的实物，还有熟悉的话语，追寻先辈足迹，感怀友好情谊。

The delegation continued their tour of General Stilwell’s former residence and viewed a photo exhibition on his life. They also watched a special short film titled Friendship Transcending Five Generations and revisited old photographs, artifacts, and familiar sayings, tracing the steps of their ancestors and reflecting on the bond of friendship.

参观结束后，访问团在博物馆军事会议厅与专家学者进行交流座谈。大家围绕美军观察组派驻延安的历史背景、开展的主要活动、在中美关系中的历史意义及对当今中美关系的启示等主题进行了交流。

After the tour, the delegation attended a seminar with experts and scholars at the museum’s military conference room. The topics centered on the historical background of the U.S. Army Observer Group’s mission in Yan’an, their activities, the significance of this mission in China-U.S. relations, and its implications for current bilateral ties.

座谈会后，葆拉·斯特林向重庆史迪威博物馆赠送了刊有美国驻华使馆上校武官包瑞德所写的，涉及美军延安观察组相关内容的《中国研究专刊》，以及刊有多姆克率团访华报道的《人民日报》(1978年5月20日版)等实物。大卫·邦斯、安德鲁·邦斯向博物馆赠送了一批史迪威家庭的珍贵照片，包括20世纪30年代史迪威一家在北京居住的合影，以及二战时史迪威与他的儿子、女婿们在中缅印战场的合影。

After the seminar, Paula Sterling and Sarah Sterling presented the Chongqing Stilwell Museum with a copy of China Research Monographs featuring content on the U.S. Army Observer Group in Yan’an by Colonel Barrett, U.S. Military Attaché in China; and an issue of People’s Daily (May 20, 1978) featuring a report on Domke’s delegation to China. David Bunce and Andrew Bunce donated a collection of valuable Stilwell family photographs, including a group photo from the 1930s when the family lived in Beijing and wartime photos of General Stilwell with his son and sons-in-law in the China-Burma-India Theater.
