Jeffrey Greene, Chairman of Sino-American Aviation Heritage Foundation, Makes Sixth Visit to Chongqing Stilwell Museum
On October 21, the delegation from the Sino-American Aviation Heritage Foundation visited the Chongqing Stilwell Museum, featuring Chairman Jeffrey Greene; his wife Katharine Greene, Advisor to the Foundation; and William Long, Director of the Flying Tigers Friendship Schools and Young Leaders Fund. They were joined by Ma Yong, Level-II Inspector of the Foreign Affairs Office of Chongqing Municipal People's Government; and Tao Yan, Director of the Stilwell Research Center, for exchange.
Greene shared that this was his sixth visit to the Chongqing Stilwell Museum, with his first visit dating back to 1995. Each time he comes, he said, he experiences something new. This time, he paid special attention to the exhibit showcasing photos and artifacts of the “U.S. Air Support to China during World War II”, sharing stories behind the photos with the attendees. He was particularly moved when he saw pictures of late Flying Tigers veterans, who had visited the museum in the past. “The number of veterans is dwindling,” he said, “so we need to do more to ensure the spirit of the Flying Tigers is passed down from generation to generation between the peoples of the U.S. and China.”
Previously in July 2024, the Stilwell Research Center signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Sino-American Aviation Heritage Foundation, and during this visit, the two sides discussed plans for further cooperation on exhibitions and cultural exchanges. Earlier that morning, with the support of the Stilwell Research Center, Greene and his team visited Chongqing Yucai Secondary School, where they explored opportunities to enhance U.S.-China student exchanges and foster educational cooperation between the two nations.
Founded in 1998, the Sino-American Aviation Heritage Foundation has been committed to raising awareness of the history of the Flying Tigers and the Hump airlift route during World War II among the people of both China and the U.S. It commemorates the friendly cooperation between the two nations during the war, promoting mutual understanding and strengthening ties. Chairman Greene's visit to Chongqing has strengthened the connection between the city and the Flying Tigers, laying a solid foundation for further friendly exchanges and practical cooperation between the two sides.
